There are those who say that a Democratic challenger cannot get more votes than an Republican incumbent in the Kentucky Fifth Congressional District. Well, let's look at the record. In 2004, Democratic Challenger Dr. Dan Mongiardo ran against incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Bunning. Did the Kentucky Fifth District vote for the Republican incumbent? Did the Kentucky Fifth District vote for the Democratic challenger? The results were:2004 election results from KY-5 (not including the part of Bath county in KY-5):
Bunning: 121,542 (49%)
Doctor Dan: 124,802 (51%)
If the whole State had voted like the Kentucky Fifth District had voted in 2004, it would have been Democratic U.S. Senator Dr. Dan, and retired ex-Senator Bunning sent to the showers.
The Republicans are going to lose in the Kentucky Fifth District Congressional race in November 2006, because the voters don't want them. Vote for Kenneth Stepp, Democrat for U.S. House in November. Kenneth Stepp.
