In 1986, Kenneth Stepp ran for U.S. House of Representatives in the Democratic Primary against incumbent Democratic Congressman Kenneth Hood (Buddy) McKay. Buddy McKay was renominated in that Primary Election, and was re-elected over his Republican opponent in November of that year.
