Kenneth Stepp believes in parental rights. Although I was paid to represent an indigent 22 year old mother in a trial court Termination of Parental Rights (TPR) case in which her parental rights to her two young children were taken away by the State, I don't get paid any additional money to handle an appeal of that case. Nevertheless, as a pro bono project, I have expended about twenty hours this week representing that indigent 22 year old mother on an appeal of the judgments in that case terminating her parental rights in her two young children. I believe that parents should be the people that raise their children, and that only in rare cases should the State intervene. When the State takes her children away from a 22 year old woman, who now lives in a private home, the matter should be reviewed by the Court of Appeals. This I intend to present to them. Being a lawyer is helping other people. Being a U.S. Senator is helping other people. I hope you will make me your U.S. Senator, so I can help you, and every one in Kentucky who has to deal with the government. The government makes a good servant, but a poor master.
At the time of the Aliens and Sedition Acts in the late 1700's, Thomas Jefferson was elected our first Democratic President and put an end to such nonsense. I care about you. The Democrats care about you. I ask you to vote for me in the Kentucky Democratic Primary May 20, and then vote for the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in the general election.
