"But in the office of Rep. Hal Rogers, R-5th District, an opponent of the health care bill, more than 80 percent of the 10,000 people who have contacted him are opposed to the measure, according to spokeswoman Stefani Zimmerman.
Armstrong Robinson, chief of staff to Rep. Geoff Davis, R-4th District, also an opponent of the bill, said that “for the last couple of days the volume of calls, faxes and e-mails is up substantially. The phone has been ringing off the hook.”
“The overwhelming majority of Kentuckians who have contacted us are opposed to Speaker Pelosi’s current proposal, based on both substance and process,” Robinson said in an e-mail.
Rep. Brett Guthrie, R-2nd District, has heard from an “overwhelming majority” of constituents who are opposed to the bill, according to spokeswoman Courtney Norris.
Nearly 5,000 people have contacted Rep. Ed Whitfield, R-1st District, on the health care issue since last September, and the “vast majority” oppose the Democrats’ plan, said spokeswoman Kristin Walker.
