" HARRISON, Mich. (AP) — Hundreds of people lined streets in one mid-Michigan community to remember a soldier killed while fighting in Iraq.

The Morning Sun in Mount Pleasant reports Saturday that yellow bows were tied to trees and yellow balloons were released as the funeral procession for Army Pfc. Robert Friese passed by.

Friese grew up in Harrison, located about 60 miles northwest of Saginaw. The 21-year-old died April 29 after his unit was attacked by insurgents with a rocket-propelled grenade in Al Qadisiyah province.

He was a 2007 graduate of Harrison High School.

Harrison resident Dan Wilhelm said during the funeral that Friese "was a home town kid and everybody was proud of him."

The Pentagon said Friese honors included the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal."
